Anticipation

For those of you who may not know, I have applied to teach on an American military base in Japan (it would be an American public school). It's possible that they might send me somewhere else, and it's also possible that I don't get a job at all.

As of right now it sounds highly probable that we will be gone by the end of August, or, hopefully, a little before that. I will keep you posted.

We have been asked a lot about what Josh will do while we're overseas. From what we know, the military bases have programs set up to help spouses integrate into life on base & help them find jobs on base. He is also looking at possibly taking some online college courses starting in the Spring, which would give us both time to settle into our new life & deal with the time change and all.

Right now there are a lot of "ifs" going around. Everything seems slightly chaotic since there are no definite answers. We may have to pack & move quickly, or we may not have to pack & move at all. We are in a constant state of anticipation - dreams of what the future may be like. It's really quite thrilling. I never, ever would have suspected myself to even leave the Chattanooga area, let alone move to another country. I figured one of my sisters would be the one to constantly travel around while I live off of their stories and pictures.

I plan on using this blog for many things: 1) Keeping everyone updated on us, how we're doing, what we did throughout the week, etc. 2) posting pictures of the trips we take along with what we saw & ate & where we went 3) our travels from America to Japan and 4) hearing back from all of you - the family and friends that we love & want to keep in touch with while we are away. I will try to update the blog once a week, but I'm sure it will be a little less at points, especially during the school year when we don't get to leave the base much, so not much will be happening. I may have to update two or three times a week during the holidays. We will just see how things unfold. My next post will be whether or not I got the job, when we will leave, etc.

For now, thank you all for your kind words and prayers and we look forward to leaving you with pictures like this at the end of each post:

With anticipation for the future,
Amy & Josh
